Caption | Anna Livia sculpture, Dublin (1988) | |
Description |
Anna Livia sculpture, designed by Eamonn O'Doherty to mark Dublin's millennium, in O'Connell Street, Dublin, 1988. The stature was based on Anna Livia Plurabelle, the protector of the river Liffey, a character in James Joyce's Finnegan's Wake. It was removed from O'Connell Street in 2001, and the original site of the statue is now occupied by The Spire of Dublin, erected in 2003. The statue was commonly referred to by Dubliners as 'the floozy in the Jacuzzi'. |
