Description | Head and shoulders of County Kerry publican Muiris 'Kruger' Kavanagh in 1962. He is smiling and looking to the left of shot. Kavanagh worked as a publicity manager for MGM but returned to Dun Chaoin on the Dingle peninsula to open a guest house and pub. He got his nickname due to his support for Kruger and the Boers in the Boer War. This photograph was taken as part of a shoot to publicise his appearance on the television programme 'Self Portrait' which was broadcast on 27 November 1962. The programme was presented by Jim FitzGerald. | |
