Description |
Half-length portrait shot of Irish actor Donal McCann as Dr Lestrange, in a scene from the RTE/Channel 4 co-production 'Summer Lightning', during filming in Glencullen, County Dublin in July 1984. He is seated, holding a glass in one hand. He is in nineteenth-century costume and is wearing a moustache. 'Summer Lightning' was adapted for television by Derek Mahon and Paul Joyce, from Ivan Turgenev's novella 'First Love'. It was made by RTE in association with Channel 4. It was directed by Paul Joyce and produced by Michael Garvey and was first televised by RTE on 8 April 1985. The RTE Guide featured a two-page article on the programme in its edition of 5 April 1985. Donal McCann was one of Ireland's best known actors, appearing in many notable Irish films and plays, including 'The Steward of Christendom' and 'Faith Healer' on stage and 'The Dead' (1987) and 'December Bride' (1990) on film. |
