An exterior view of the Divis Flats complex in West Belfast, in October 1982. Two blocks of flats and the Divis Tower can be seen in this shot. A concrete walkway connecting two of the flats is visible on the extreme right. This still was taken for use in RTE News bulletins. Construction of Divis Flats began in the late 1960s as a response to the housing crisis in West Belfast. Demolition of the blocks started in 1986; the only building now remaining in the complex is Divis Tower. |
