Description |
A re-enactment of the ambush of Michael Collins at Bealnablath in County Cork, during the filming of the RTE Television documentary 'The Shadow of Bealnablath', in November 1987. Collins's grand-nephew Captain Michael O'Driscoll played him in this documentary, in a non-speaking role. In this shot, Collins is returning fire as he takes cover behind the armoured car 'Slievenamon'. This car was the original one used by Michael Collins in 1922. 'The Shadow of Bealnablath' was about Michael Collins and the circumstances surrounding his death on 22 August 1922. It was researched, written, co-produced and narrated by Colm Connolly, an RTE News reporter. It was first broadcast by RTE on 22 April 1989. The accompanying RTE Guide article was published on 21 April 1989. |
