Broadcaster and politician Ted Nealon, on the set of RTÉ Television's current affairs programme '7 Days' in 1975. Ted Nealon was a current affairs presenter for RTÉ from 1965-75 before being elected to the Dáil as a Fine Gael TD for Sligo-Leitrim in 1981. He was Minister of State at the Departments of Agriculture and Posts and Telegraphs in the coalition government of 1981-82. In the Fine Gael/Labour coalition of 1982-87 he was Minister of State at the Departments of the Taoiseach and Communications. He retired from politics in 1997. He is the author of Nealon's Guides to the Dail and Seanad, the definitive guide to Irish politics which is published after every general election. |
