Description | An exterior view of the entrance to the Capitol Cinema on North Prince's Street, Dublin city, in a shot taken for RTÉ Television's 'Newsbeat' in September 1967. The film showing is 'The Deadly Affair'. This cinema was first opened as La Scala Theatre and Opera House in 1920. It became the Capitol Theatre from 1927 to 1953 and was in use only as a cinema until 1972. It was demolished in 1974. 'Newsbeat' was a current affairs/magazine programme which ran until 1971. | |
