Description | Hilda Tweedy, founder member of the Irish Housewives' Association, attends a convocation of thirteen retired people in Tinakilly House in Rathnew, County Wicklow, in October 1993. This two-day meeting of elderly people from a variety of professional backgrounds, was broadcast in fourteen parts on RTÉ Radio 1 as 'The Tinakilly Senate' from 15 November 1993. Hilda Tweedy featured in the programme broadcast on 29 November 1993. The series was made to mark the European Year of Older People. The RTÉ Guide published a brief article on the series in its radio preview column on 12 November 1993; RTÉ's staff magazine 'Access' also published an article about it on 25 November 1993. | |
