| Description |
Historian and archaeologist Máire de Paor inside the passage tomb at Newgrange, County Meath, in June 1978. This shot was taken during the filming of RTÉ Television's 'Life in Ancient Ireland', a four-part series made for Telefís Scoile. The first episode was broadcast on 9 February 1979; the episode featuring Newgrange, 'Graves and Gods', was broadcast on 2 March 1979. 'Telefís Scoile' comprised several different series of programmes on subjects studied by secondary school students at Junior (Intermediate/Junior Certificate) and Senior (Leaving Certificate) levels. It was initiated by RTÉ in 1964 in association with the Department of Education. |
