Workers' Party TD Proinsias De Rossa in Leinster House, Dublin, in May 1983. This still was taken for use in RTÉ News bulletins. De Rossa was first elected to the Dáil in the constituency of Dublin North-West for the Workers' Party in 1982. He is a former leader of that party and of Democratic Left. He was Minister of Social Welfare from 1994-97 and was elected to the European Parliament in 1989. He was again elected in 1999 and 2004 for Dublin, having resigned his Dáil seat in 2000. |
