Fianna Fáil Minister for Foreign Affairs Brian Lenihan (right), chats to the United States Ambassador William Shannon and his wife Elizabeth (Liz) in Áras an Uachtaráin, Dublin, on 10 January 1980. They were attending a function in which the heads of the diplomatic corps in Ireland presented New Year's greetings to the Irish President.
