RTÉ Radio 1 producer John Penrose (left) and playwright Bernard Farrell, photographed for the RTÉ staff magazine 'Access' in January 1994. Penrose had produced Farrell's play 'The Final Whistle', first broadcast by RTÉ Radio 1 on 31 December 1991. 'The Final Whistle' was voted 1993's Best Radio Play on BBC Radio 4's 'Pick of the Year', and was the first complete radio drama bought by the BBC from RTÉ. It was also RTÉ's entry in the 1992 Prix Italia. 'Access' published an article about it in its issue of 10 February 1994. |
