Irish songwriter Seán Monaghan, the winner of the 'Réalta '98' song competition with 'Ina Measc', celebrates with champagne outside RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta's headquarters in Casla, Connemara, County Galway, in December 1997. From left to right; judges Fiachna Ó Braonáin and Liam Ó Maonlaí from Irish band Hothouse Flowers, Seán Monaghan and singer Maighread Ní Dhomhnaill,also a judge. The winner of 'Réalta '98', which was run by RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta who broadcast the contest live, won £2000 and went on to compete in the final of 'Eurosong '98'. A brief report on Monaghan's win, the third time he won this competition, appeared in the RTÉ staff magazine 'Access' on 29 January 1998. |
