Description |
Irish musician Paul Lyttle, in a publicity shot for the 1974 National Song Contest taken in October 1973. He wrote the winning song 'Cross Your Heart' for this competition, which selected a song to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest. The RTÉ Guide published an article on that year's National Song Contest entrants in its issue of 2 November 1973. The 1974 National Song Contest differed from other years in that one singer sang all eight competing songs; the winner was chosen by viewers' postal votes. All eight songs were performed on RTÉ Television's 'The Likes of Mike' on 2 February 1974, while the contest itself was broadcast as part of the final programme in the series on 10 February 1974. |
