Broadcaster Ray D'Arcy poses with nine of the Roses who took part in the 2006 Rose of Tralee competition, during an RTÉ Guide photo shoot in July 2006. Sitting in the front row are Dublin Rose Sarah Guilmartin (left) and Cork Rose Patricia Cotter. Standing behind them are, from left to right; Mary Sheahan (Limerick), Theresa Roseingrave (Clare), Colleen Shannon (Kerry), Catherine Peoples (Derry, sitting) Aisling McDowell (Belfast), Edel O'Connor (Westmeath) and Bláthnaid Carlin (Armagh). Ray D'Arcy presented RTÉ Television's live coverage of the contest on 21 and 22 August that year. The Guide article was published on 18 August 2006. The Rose of Tralee International Festival has been running since 1959. |
